Need to Increase Lead Generation? Do This One Thing

We all know that to grow our businesses, we need sales. To get sales, we need customers and to get customers we need to market our business and brands…we need to increase traffic.

There are countless ‘gurus’ and endless online course on lead generation- and today Im going to save you a bunch of time and money.  If you do this foundational one thing- you WILL increase the amount of customers and prospects coming through your doors.

Do this one thing first, for better lead generation

The one thing that you must do to improve and increase your lead generation efforts is KNOW your customer. Yep. Simple huh? I bet you’re saying ‘Duh.’ but stay with me here…

Most of my clients who are business owners, talk about traffic.  They say, “I want to do Facebook Ads or blogging, or social media…’

Which is great way to generate leads, but the problem is that if you don’t have the funnel and foundation..you have no business even thinking about facebook ads, blogging or social media.

What is the foundation and funnel?

Foundation is the basis for which everything is built upon. Im sure you know what happens to a house built on a bad foundation?  You want to build your business, you increase lead generation- you must have a strong foundation.

Foundation: Defining your target audience, make certain your messaging is relevant to that audience and craft the perfect offer. When you have the right foundation, you KNOW who your customer is, you have a funnel that can attract, nurture and convert strangers into prospects, and prospect into customers.  Once the foundation and funnel (foundation) is set….THEN you can look at traffic.

You will not achieve success in your business or marketing until you know who your customer is- beyond names and email addresses…..you need to dig deeper:

And more importantly, you have to know their pains and frustrations or goals and desires, fears and implications, dreams and aspirations- What motivates them? What do they like to read? Where do they shop?

Lead generation best practice? Put it down on paper.

Write these things down:

  • What are your customers’ biggest pains right now and their biggest goals?
  • What are they frustrated with and what do they want?
  • What’s going to happen if they don’t take action?
  • What are their fears and implications?

When you get a better picture of who your customer is, then you will be able to better market to them and engage them with content that you know will resonate. Guess what? You’ll actually save a ton of money in your lead generation efforts – because once  you know your customer, you no longer waste money on newspaper or website ads, that your core demographic will never see.

So you see, the foundation of a successful scalable business is the customer. The one thing you absolutely must do to increase lead generation for your business – is get to know who they really are. When you do you will become laser-focused with your marketing efforts, increase your marketing ROI and grow your business.
